Three-day Shramdaan Shivir cleanliness drive concludes in Pulwama
PULWAMA: A three-day cleanliness drive, under the initiative of Shramdaan Shivir, concluded in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The drive was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Pulwama to encourage the community to come together and clean public places.
During the work camp, various water bodies including springs and streams were cleaned by volunteers from NYK Pulwama as well as Municipal Committee Pulwama. Also, the local youth from the town took an active part in the campaign of Shramdaan Shivir.
The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, hygiene and environmental awareness in the area. It also aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among the residents towards maintaining a clean and green environment.
The drive was kick-started on February 13 by Mr. Bilal Ahmad Rather, President of Municipal Council Pulwama. The event saw enthusiastic participation from volunteers, including government officials, civil society members, students and locals.
During the drive, volunteers not only cleaned the water bodies but also removed garbage and plastic waste lying near the water bodies.
The event concluded on February 15 with a closing ceremony, where Deputy Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Pulwama, Mr. M.K. Mir congratulated the participants for their efforts and appreciated their contributions to the cleanliness drive.
Speaking to the media, Mr. M.K. Mir said that the Shramdaan Shivir cleanliness drive was a great success and emphasized that the community should continue to take care of public spaces.
He also thanked the participants and volunteers for their dedication towards making Pulwama a cleaner place to live in.
The event was widely appreciated by the residents of Pulwama, who expressed their happiness at seeing the community come together for a noble cause. Many residents also pledged to maintain cleanliness in the area and promised to actively participate in such initiatives in the future.
