Dr Mir Samiullah performs complex surgery for cancer of esophagus
SRINAGAR: Renowned Gastroenterologist, Dr Mir Samiullah has performed a complex surgery at Star Hospital Srinagar.
Hospital management said that a 65-year old patient from South Kashmir was admitted at Star Hospital under MRD number 11991 with complaints of not being able to swallow (dysphagia) was operated on for 8 long hours by renowned gastrointestinal surgeon Dr Mir Samiullah.
A massive tumour in the middle of the oesophagus was removed and a new food pipe was created from a part of his stomach. This is considered one of the most challenging procedures in the field of gastrointestinal surgery.
The patient and attendants were extremely happy and jubilant about the procedure stating that they had been moving from pillar to post for a long time without getting any proper treatment till they landed at Star Hospital.
Dr Samiullah has pioneered the field of gastrointestinal surgery in the valley and has been doing such complex procedures continuously in past also.
