Condolences pour in as journalist Ashiq Mohiuddin bereaved
PULWAMA: Father of video journalist Ashiq Mohiuddin passed away on Monday after brief illness at his home in south Kashmir's Pulwama.
Abdul Aziz Ganie, aged 70, was a native of Washbugh area of Pulwama town who after prolonged illness died on Monday morning. He was a retired government employee.
His son, Ashiq Mohiuddin, is currently associated with ‘Times Now’ news channel as a stringer for south Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Shopian-Pulwama Working Journalists' Guild (SPWJG) has expressed grief over the demise of Ganaie and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
In a statement, the guild stated that they stand with the bereaved family and that they also held a joint condolence meet in Pulwama.
"The members of the Guild prayed for the eternal rest to the deceased and prayed Almighty to give the entire family courage to bear the irreparable loss," a statement from the Guild said.
Pulwama Working Journalists' Association (PWJA) also condoled the demise of Ashiq Mohiuddin's father.
"All members of PWJA express their sympathies with the bereaved family and pray for solace to the departed soul," the spokesperson of the Association said.

National Conference leader and district president Pulwama, Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir on Monday expresses grief over the death of Abdul Aziz Ganie and extended sympathies with the bereaved family.
Mir extended his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, especially with journalist Ashiq Mohiuddin. He termed the deceased as kind and pious soul and said, “I equally share the pain of the bereaved family at this hour of grief."
Senior Peoples Democratic party leader, Showkat Gayoor also condoled the demise and said, "We share the grief with the bereaved family and pray for eternal peace of deceased and courage for the family to bear this painful loss."
Senior Congress leader Pulwama, Umar Jan expressed grief over the demise and extended condolences to the bereaved family. Umar prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the grief-stricken family.
PDP Youth Leader, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra expressed his heartfelt condolences to journalist Ashiq Mohiuddin on the sad demise of his father. While expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, Waheed prayed Almighty to give courage and strength to his family to bear this irreparable loss and also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Also, District Information Office Pulwama held a condolence meeting which was chaired by District Information Officer Tahir Ahmad Magray to mourn the demise. "In the meeting, heartfelt sympathy and solidarity was expressed with the bereaved family and prayers were held for grant of eternal peace to the departed soul," a statement issued here said.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Information Officer among other officials.
