Bus Stand Pulwama looks akin to a dumping site!
Pulwama: The general bus stand in Pulwama district has been turned into a garbage dumping site with concerned authorities turning blind eye towards it.
According to the transporters, the people residing adjacent to the bus stand and the employees of Municipal Committee dump the garbage and other waste material in it everyday.
“Heaps of garbage lying on the road continuously emanates foul smell making the pedestrian movement difficult,” the transporters said, adding the stinking smell also irritates the passengers coming to the bus stand.
The transporters accused the Municipal Committee Pulwama of turning blind eye towards the issue.
“We apprised the officials in the Municipal Committee about the matter and sent various representations seeking removal of garbage from the bus stand, but they failed to do anything substantial in this regard,” the transporters said.
They said that with the improvement in weather condition, the garbage could become a source of disease in the area. The transporters also complained that the bus stand has developed several potholes.
